::Royal China @ Raffles Hotel::

For our 2nd anniversary, Raf brought me to
Royal China as he knowmy obsession for "dim sum".
I fell in love with the doll house like restaurant.
The baby blue walls and white furniture are
make me really calm and relaxed.
The fooood was fantastic. The price was surprisingly moderate.
It is know for being the best restaurant to get your "dim sum".
We had the usual favourites, "Har kau" Steamed Prawn dumplings,
"Prawn chung fun" Rice flour rolls, "Peking" roast duck and vegetable dumplings in chili oil.
I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Birthday getaway ::Bali::

It's was my birthday, me and a group of my very dearest friends went down to Bali for a fun in the sun beach getaway.. It was amazing. i am going to write on four dishes which i felt was fantastic.

Firstly we had lunch on the beautiful La Lucciola.

I can't really remember what the dishes were

called so please excuse me.

My husband tried the poached eggs with salmon on muffins.

It was brilliant.

Enough to keep you going for half a day

walking in the street Bali..:)

I had pan fried fillets along with wedges and a portion of green salad. Very light perfect for a light meal by the beach. In Bali the food is really good that you can basically would want to munch every 2-3 hours... So a light meal is just right.

Before heading back we enjoyed a wet breezy afternoon in Kudeta. It was raining very heavily. We had ordered a few dishes i am totally in love with the "Tuna Carpaccio" with preserved lemon, fried capers,chili and salmoriglio dressing.

I also love the "Char Grilled Squid and Octopus Salad" chickpeas,

red radish, cucumber, chili & parsley without the chorizo.

Picture seen above of blog.

Barracks Cafe @ Dempsey House

Each month or two i will have my craving for the delicious food @ House Dempsey. Thanks to Talana's dad, Neil. I discover this hidden gem in the woods in our concrete jungle.
Food is good and slightly pricey but still affordable for a romantic dinner or gathering of close girlfriends.. :) The service can be slightly slow at busy nights.
But i have all the patience in the world to savour the tantalizing favourites.

I normally began with a few starters. I am in love with the "Bread Medley & Chunky Trio Dips" @ $15. You get four different dips and a basket of soft warm heavenly breads.

I will now announce my Star dish, "Harisa Sauteed Prawns and Grilled Mango" @$17 Just mouthwatering. Remember to dip the bread into the sauce. It's out of this world. Don't forget to squeeze the lemon it just brings out the bursting flavours.

My other recommendations would be the "Patagonian Wagyu Beef" @$25,
served along with sweet potatoes sticks and the "Truffle Fries".... Yuuum...

You should also try the "Squid Ink" Skinny pizza, juicy seafood tossed with fresh arugula leaves. @$23

As for the mains, i love the "Herb Crusted Lamb Rack" @$32.
Although i am not a huge fan of the ratatouille.

Now for the favourite part of the course. Desserts!!!!!
It has to be this energy pumping "Warm Chocolate Toffee Cake" @$12. Just look at the picture.
No words can describe it.

The restaurant has a beautiful indoor and alfresco dining view.

Greenery surrounding huge trees. No mozzies...:)
So the next time you choosing a new place to eat give House a try..

Back to basic

South indian food are normally made out of lentils. It brings me back to my childhood days going to Little India with my family. I use to love the Paper dosai which is more crispy then the normal dosai. As i grew older my taste buds have changed. So here are two of my favourites now Egg dosai and Idly.

Dosai is a crepe made of Rice and black lentils.
Idly is a steamed batter of fermented black lentils (de husked) and rice.

Both are normally served warm with chutneys. It's a typical breakfast dish for the south indians. But people in Singapore tends to enjoy it at any time of the day. Back in those days they use to serve the chili powder along with the dosai. It is hard to find it now. They kinda of stop it...:(

Weekly Sinful Indulgence

I have MAD love for chocolate. So being a chocoholic, it is a must for me to treat myself daily with something to beat my cravings. My mad sugar rush starts kicking in normally around 3pm daily. My body needs it for some weird reason. Despite being so skinny alot of people hate the fact that i can afford to indulge in such sinful act. Haahhahahahahhaha........

So here is one of my favourite slice of heaven. Let me introduce you to my love "Belgian Chocolate Marquise" from Cedele. The outlet is conveniently located under my office tower...:) For only $3, you get to savour the wonder of the melted chococlate couverture folded with cookies, nuts, cherries and raisins.... Halleluya!!!!!!!

::Beef Bersaola::

I had an incredible weekend last week. I had all my best friends from all parts of the world in Singapore with me. It was a second celebration for the new year. I organised an amazing group dinner at one of my new favourite Italian restaurant called Osvaldo. Been there a few times already in the past 2 months.

At the dinner, i wanted to try something new for me. So i came across something an antipasti "Beef Bersaola". I tried it and i am in love with it. So i did my little research on it to find out just more about this amazing piece of beef.

It is basically an air-dried salted beef that has been aged for 2-3 months till it turn dark red and hard. It made from Top (inside) round. It's normally lean and tender with a sweet musty smell. (Got this off the wikipedia).

It usually sliced thinly like paper and serve at room temperature. Serve with salad and drizzles of olive oil. Yuuuuuuuuuuuum...
